As an eBook reader, the app is pretty good. There's amazing competitor apps, but I read books partially with the intention of enhancing my vocabulary, and Play Books does offer the easiest, smoothest way to look up a word (in-app). I can also highlight words and have them be saved in Google Drive, which is great for revising those new words I'm learning! Also, being able to access my personal uploads on both PC and mobile is helpful, too.

I have been using the app for some years already and I find it great! Especially the fact that I can search for words' meaning while reading. I would really like, to have a feeling, while reading, of how far I am in the book, as this is part of a paper-book reading experience (it could be a very dim loading bar at the bottom of screen).

It is ok to listen to a book once. Once. There is no skip track button. There is no back button. There is no return to start button. Esp. dumb, not in Android auto. So your kid listened to a book and wants to listen again. You gotta manually slide the progress indicator to the beginning, then hit minus 30sec, it jumps to the previous track, repeat until you are at the beginning of the book. Total nonsense.
